St. Anselm Seafood/Steakhouse: Date Night in Williamsburg Brooklyn

If you're in the mood for some amazing seafood, Steak and Potatoes, St. Anselm is the place to go. Allan heard about this amazing $16 for a steak joint from a co-worker, and we decided we had to go and try it out. Super low key and affordable, it's the perfect/trendy place for the young lovers & Friends.

You might get up to two slices of tomatoes if you tried to order a steak at Peter Luger or Smith & Wollensky's for the same price. St. Anselm doesn't take reservations so we hopped on the L train and had to get there 5 minutes before it opened to make sure we would get a table. When we got to their front door, there was already a long line forming down the block. Thank goodness we got there just in time! If you're making plans to visit, make sure you get there before the crowd. I apologize in advance for the low res pics but the lighting was just too dark in there for my iPhone. I brought you a slideshow via NY Mag at the bottom to makeup for my pictures homies. Overall we had a fabulous time and we ate some DELICIOUS food. I'm drooling just thinking about the food from this hipster steakhouse.

"NO SUBSTITUTIONS"

Clams in Garlic butter sauce to start. It was so tasty!
Two of my favorite combinations: Garlic & Butter.

Wine Braised Octopus. Perfectly delicious and bursting with citrusy flavor. There was none of that yucky overpowering fishy taste so it was quite marvelous. I could eat a couple more serving of this!

Butcher's steak and Pan-fried Mashed potatoes are in da HOUSEEEEE.
The steak was succulent and tender but I have to say that my favorite dish was this Pan-Fried Mashes Potato! It tasted sooooo good full of truffle oil and creamy potatoes. Allan loved the potatoes so much that he ate almost 3/4 of it. I was only a little mad :p

I was quite stuffed but we both decided that we had to have the Vanilla Ice Cream with Candied Pork Cracklings so we capture the full experience.

While we waited for Dessert Allan said he would take pictures. Little did I know, he meant pictures of himself :) He's such a cutie.

Tada! This was actually quite good. Not my favorite thing in the world, but I am super happy I got to try it. The ice cream was really nice and not too creamy or vanilla-y so it went down really easily. The candied pork was really good and were kind of like pork grind croutons. What a novelty~!

If you are in the area you should totally check it out.

"The beauty of this place, then, is not that it has everything a carnivore could ask for in a steakhouse—and more, including friendly service, tattooed cooks, and Led Zeppelin on the playlist. It’s that you can treat it like a casual neighborhood joint instead of a special-occasion expense-account extravaganza, and just drop in on a whim or whenever the craving for red meat strikes." - NY Mag
"appearance: rough and rustic, the ceiling clad in overlapping layers of wood shingles, the brick walls draped with obscure flags and banners like some kind of hipster Knights of Columbus hall. Stools line the long bar and the dining counter opposite the open kitchen, which houses a newly installed grill, utilized by the cooks for everything from clams to avocados in their skins (which become creamy vehicles for aïoli-dressed sweet Maine shrimp), and even veggies like cauliflower and long beans charred in mesh baskets over the flame."    -NY Mag
