TBT- Rally against Domestic Violence @ 55 Gansevoort Meatpacking/NYC

STOP. DOMESTIC. VIOLENCE.
Thanks to Sam and her friends last weekend, we kick off the beginning of Spring with an evening of drinking and dancing for a great cause at 55 Gansevoort NYC! It was truly beautiful and so wonderful to see so many of our friends that came out to support the cause and everyone's hard work. #Loyalty
Sam is the beautiful lady in the red sexy bandage dress (or b&w pic of the hottie dancing) below and she and her friends helped raise over $3,000 via Host Committee to help benefit the Employment Search Skills Program at the NYC Liberty House, a professional development initiative for women who have been victims of domestic violence. Who doesn't love an evening of good times with fabulous company, for a worthy cause?

Before we go on to the super happy sunshine funtime pics, I want to talk a little bit about domestic violence. Everyone needs to know that getting out of an abusive or violent relationship isn't easy. Most women and sometimes even men, don't realize that they are in a violent relationship until it is too late, and abuse doesn't always have to come in physical form. It is easy for battered women to feel trapped and helpless, wondering if the person they love will change, and/or being afraid of what their partner will do if they try to leave. Domestic violence cuts down women's feelings of independence and can often make the abused person co-dependent on the abuser in most cases. It is critical that there is help for women out there who seek assistance and rehabilitation, and I am thrilled that Sam and her friends could get involved for such an important cause. Everyone deserves to live a life free of fear and it is good to know that there are many resources available for abused and battered women, including crisis hotlines, shelters—even job training, legal services, and childcare. Click any of the links for help and don't forget to look out for your fellow sisters. God bless 'Merica.
