PUPCAKES: Healthy and Easy PB + Apple Cupcake with Yogurt Frosting Recipe for your Dog!

Delicious, healthy, and easy dog cupcake recipe for any occasion! Your pooch will be begging for more.

Over the weekend, we had two hot dawgs running around our apartment. To celebrate, we decided to make healthy Pupcakes for Leo and our spunky little visitor.

Remember Adam (pup on the right)? His parents went away for the weekend so we had the honor of hosting Leo's furry friend for a few days. We had a lovely weekend together snuggling and baking delicious treats!

Super quick and easy to make! The pups and I just love this super easy recipe and wanted to share it with you homies.

Healthy Peanut Butter + Apple Cupcake with Yogurt Frosting Cupcakes for Dogs

Total Time: 15 minutes
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 10 minutes
Yield: 6 cupcakes
Ingredients:
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ cup whole wheat flour
1 egg
2 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
1½ tablespoons peanut butter
⅓ cup canola oil
⅓ cup applesauce

Instructions
-Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
-In a mixing bowl, stir the flour, baking powder, canola oil, applesauce, egg, and honey until well mixed.

-Insert cupcake liners into a muffin or cupcake pan. Spoon mixture into cupcake liners, filling each about halfway.

-Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of a cupcake comes out clean.
-Allow cupcakes to cool to room temperature.

-Meanwhile, in a bowl, stir yogurt and peanut butter until mixture is smooth and creamy. Use a small spatula or butter knife to smooth a thin layer of the peanut butter frosting over each cupcake.

Storage: cupcakes should hold up for 4-5 days if stored in an airtight container. Peanut butter frosting should be stored separately, covered and refrigerated.

These two cuties waited desperately for the special pupcakes. They could smell it in the air!

We used zip lock bags to add more peanut butter and apple sauce on top of the frosted cupcakes for taste and decoration. Here is a friendly tip if you are thinking of doing the same, don't use chunky peanut butter for the frosting because it the chunks of peanuts will be hard to squeeze out of the bag. I learned this lesson the hard way...

Use dog treats to decorate your pupcake! We used the Louisiana Crab jerky because Leo loves it and can't seem to get enough of it :)

Wanna know a little secret? I like to add Barkworthies Bully Flake to my dog treat recipes. Just sprinkle it onto whatever recipe you are working on. I think it gives each recipe a little something extra and Leo loves it! I've used it before, remember my sweet potato dog treat recipe

Verdict?

NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM!

Our pups just LOVE these and I think yours will too!

Happy Mondee Homies!

XO
