On Saturday, Allan and I had a fantastic day shopping and smooching around Herald Square, 34th street area near Korean Town. We went to a few places but ended up at Zara and Uniqlo, the two stores we love to frequent for our basic wardrobe needs. After dashing around for the best deals, we got super hungry and we strolled over to Maru for a loungy Asian fusion dinner. For dessert, we got pastries from our favorite French-Asian patisserie, Tous Le Jours. I always love spending the day in Korea Town :)
Once you walk onto 32nd street between Broadway and 5th ave, the street is lined up with squatted cig smoking Asians, Korean eateries and karaoke bars.
Once you get to the entrance of the building, take the dodgy and drab elevator up to the third floor.
(PS: Kunjip - restaurant next to Maru - is one of my fave authentic Korean Restaurants in the city.)
Tada! Not too shabby ey? Beautiful bell greets you into Maru.
We were a bit under dressed, but we figured it was alright since we had a slightly early dinner reservation. After spending the day outside with the new crisp fall weather and sun, it seemed so dark inside Maru.
Dark, yet romantic <3
my fave wallet and Nina Ricci sunnies came out to play with me |

Maru is on two floors. The third floor is dedicated to the restaurant and lounge area. The fourth floor is the bar and private karaoke rooms. Allan and I hung out on the fourth floor since there was a private party going on on the third.
Allan and I had our own private party with each other + wicked cocktails ;)
I had this drink = Southern Exposure - rosemary, bourbon whisky, orange peel, honey syrup & ginger ale
and don't judge...
We shared 3 entrees to fill our bellies!
Baked Black Cod over a bed of thinly sliced cabbage |
Super delicious! |
Roasted Quail - So GOOD and tastes like chicken! |
Final Entree - Japanese Hamburger |
Topped with tons of Japanese slaw...Allan was so into it. |
He loved this burger, but I also think this giant manwich put him right over the edge. After this beast of a burger, we were both stuffed like little piggies. It was a great meal and romantic date spot. I also think it would be fun to have a fabulous pre-game to a girl's/boy's night out here. Before you go clubbing, hit up Maru and have some exotic cocktails with your gal pals. Or plan a night of divas and rent out your own private Karaoke room. You and your friends can practice to be the new Fifth Harmony. With the sexy lighting, it would be a good idea to even do a sexy music video scene inside Maru NYC. |
Now time for dessert:
Baby you're a tart. |
My Sweet Sugar Pie |
These things are amazing. Stuffed with either tuna, or curry. I would eat these for breakfast, lunch and dinner if there was a store closer to me. |
Who doesn't love a good, stuffed, weiner? |
Korean Rice Cakes y'all :) |
Have your next coffee date here. Promise you wont regret it. Clean, simple, chic, and delicious!
She said no pictures but, it was too late. #sorryihavetoblogthis #sorrynotsorry
XOXO
