JURA BROOKLYN LAUNCH PARTY - Your Whiskey Odyssey Awaits

“Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.” -MARK TWAIN

Whats going on homies!?! I hope you are all ready for an AMAZING Independence Day weekend. I know the weather is caca out there right now but don't you fret. Mother nature will grace us with some sun this weekend if we are nice to her, so let's be on our best behavior.
Before we head off to our poolside BBQ filled weekend, I want to share some pictures from the Jura Brooklyn Scotch Whiskey launch party my booski and I attended last week.

Attention Brooklyknights: I really lu-lu-loved the taste and you should all pick up a bottle of this exclusive drank to celebrate the big weekend. It's the perfect gift if you know any whiskey afficionados.
The only catch is that Only 2,000 bottles of Jura Brooklyn have currently been released in New York, but they may release more based upon demand. This fall, Jura Brooklyn will be released nationwide.

Most of you already know I love whiskey. It is my drink of choice. It does get me into a bit of trouble at times, but it's wicked fun don't you think?

Funny coincidence this event happened to be at Villain NYC, the same place that was hosting the Villa X Adidas Party in Williamsburg I mentioned in my last post. It was quite remarkable because the space was completely transformed by the production team and had a very different feel than the last party.

Stag head everywhere and a full open bar. It was an impressive launch party.

“The light music of whiskey falling into a glass—an agreeable interlude.” JAMES JOYCE

“I have never in my life seen a Kentuckian who didn’t have a gun, a pack of cards, and a jug of whiskey.” ANDREW JACKSON

“There is no bad whiskey. There are only some whiskeys that aren’t as good as others.” -RAYMOND CHANDLER

Via NY Times: Willie Tait, the master distiller for the only distillery on the Isle of Jura, off the western coast of Scotland, considers the whisky that he produces to be artisanal. But he wanted to develop a new Scotch with input from artisans, and he found them in Brooklyn. The result is a new single malt: Jura Brooklyn. It came about after Mr. Tait presented samples of various blends to representatives of a dozen Brooklyn establishments, including Bedford Cheese Shop, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Brooklyn Brewery, Buttermilk Channel and Fine & Raw Chocolate. They tried them with various foods like cheeses, chocolates and fried chicken, and the one they rated the highest made it into the bottle. It’s a warmly robust Scotch with a hint of peat flavor balanced by a smooth, mellow finish: Jura Brooklyn Single Malt Scotch Whisky, about $60 at Park Avenue Liquor Shop, 292 Madison Avenue; Beekman Liquors, 500 Lexington Avenue; and Greenpoint Wine & Liquor, 89 Nassau Avenue, Brooklyn.

His last words were, “I should never have switched from Scotch to Martinis.”

INSTAPRINT! This photobooth was amazing. As long as your instagram is public, just take a pic on your phone and upload it to instagram with the related hashtag and the machines will automatically print mini Polaroids!

‎”I wish to live to 150 years old, but the day I die, I wish it to be with a cigarette in one hand and a glass of whiskey in the other.” AVA GARDNER

After scoping out the scene for a while we finally lined up for the whiskey and chocolate tasting upstairs.

Master Distiller Willie Tait was there to present Jura's Amazing Scotches along with the owner of Fine & Raw Daniel Sklaar! They are seriously amazingly magnetic people who completely inspired everyone in the room with their hypnotizing chocolate and whiskey scotch combo.

Fine & Raw’s mission is to “save the world through silliness and chocolate” and the new Brooklyn lab readily embraces that spirit — as a sign in the lab’s kitchen reads: “All work and no play is missing the point completely.”
Don't you wish you ran a chocolate/whiskey factory?

Via Grub Street: The whisky itself is aged in casks that formerly housed American bourbon, Amoroso Sherry, and pinot noir. It's peaty on the nose, and more sophisticated palates may find hints of currants, honey, berries, figs, and roasted coffee. (Less sophisticated palates will discover that it's just a nice, light whisky.)

The whiskey + smoked chocolate combo was just divine making them the perfect combo.

“Tell me what brand of whiskey that Grant drinks. I would like to send a barrel of it to my other generals.” -ABRAHAM LINCOLN

Brilliant party, brilliant people, and brilliant whiskey homies.
Be sure to check it out if you can get your hands on it.

Happy Fourth of July weekend!

XO

  1. This is such a stunning launch party. All of these arrangements are just so fabulous. My cousin is also launching his online shop for selling antique décor and I think that his upcoming launch party at one of the indoor LA venues was also this much beautiful. There is a Mexican luncheon as well for all of the attendees.
