Dinner, Vodka, Caviar Tasting and High Tea Datenight @ The Russian Tea Room NYC

Foodies and vodka connoisseurs everywhere, this is for you! Countless celebrities and politicians from around the world have visited The Russian Tea Room. Madonna was a coat check girl just there before she got her big break. As some of you may be know already, my boo is Russian and was raised in Estonia. To celebrate his heritage and culture, we went to The Russian Tea for a beautiful night of vodka + caviar Tasting, dinner, and high tea.

I love New York because there are so many places/precious landmarks that have been featured in famous films and tv shows that we all love to watch. When I was much younger, I would walk over to TIffany's with my $1.50 bagel/coffee special and pretend to be Holly Golightly. I am grateful to always know that, as long as you're in New York, there is always somewhere you can go to feel like you are a part of royalty.

For more than eighty seven years, New York's defining cultural moments have taken place at The Russian Tea Room.

Since being founded by members of the Russian Imperial Ballet in 1927, The Russian Tea Room has been a second home for boldface names and the intellectual elite - an exclusive enclave where actors, writers, politicians, and executives plan their next deals and celebrate their friends’ latest Carnegie Hall performances.

Countless guests visiting from around the globe walk through the antique revolving doors to catch a glimpse of the booth Dustin Hoffman sat in when filming Tootsie; to see the inspiration that Woody Allen found for the movie Manhattan; to walk past the coat check where Madonna worked before she found fame; or to try martinis like the cast of Gossip Girl recently did.

My boo is super sweet and always takes me to K-Town on 32nd street to satisfy my Korean food cravings. This time, we decided to give Allan his fill of Russian cuisine and culture. To start, we began we a delicate session of caviar tasting for two.
❤
I wore my favorite cashmere spring cardigan from The Row, my favorite pair of Levis Skinny jeans, Prada Saffiano purse, and simple TopShop Black booties.
❤
❤
While we waited for our vodka and caviar, I marveled at the beautiful decor.

Vodka was the first to arrive!
We chose the following six to taste: Chopin, Imperia, Jewel of Russia, Purity, Karlsson's Gold, and Anestasia

Our waiter split the blinis for us to share. Four Buckwheat Blinis with Sour Cream: served with chopped eggs, onion, parsley. Each blinis had a choice of trout, salmon, and white fish roes.

I know caviar is an exquisite delicacy that has affinity with even the British royal family, but I am just not the biggest fan. #dontjudgeme

Looks beautiful, and Allan LOVES caviar so he ate everything I couldn't finish.

For Dinner we had the pre-show dinner menu.
Available daily from 4:45pm to 6:15pm and 10pm - 11pm. Price $60
Not available for groups of 8 or more.
❤
Like true Russians, we both started with the Traditional Tea Room Red Borscht.
Pickled red beets, seasonal vegetables and dill in a short rib broth served with a braised beef pirozhok or hot boiled potato and sour cream. The soup was delicious and hearty!
Yummy yummy beef pirozhok and sour cream.

Allan had the Boeuf à la Stroganoff.
Red wine braised beef short ribs with house-made thick noodles tossed in creamy mushroom and black truffle cream sauce.
HOMIES, this dish was EXCELLENT!
The beef was perfectly booked and would just melt in your mouth. I kinda wanted to steal his entire dish :)
 ❤

I had the Chicken Kiev, Allan's mom's favorite!
Herb butter stuffed in a breaded chicken breast with almond and apricot jasmine rice, fig compote and mixed baby vegetables.

My dish was also delectable and mouthwatering. Our waiter made the first cut into the chicken for me and the delicious juices came oozing out! The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and delightfully tender on the inside.

I was soooo stuffed after the delicious spread, but since we were having a lovely and long dinner date, we decided to also go for tea and dessert.

We ordered the "Russian Country" tea.
 ❤

For Dessert we ordered two to share.
Traditional Cheesecake
Vanilla cheesecake covered with chocolate curls and fresh berries.
Tiramisu
Traditional tiramisu with chocolate sauce and chocolate pearls.
 ❤

Dessert was delicious but we were soooo full, that we barely got through all of it.
The entire tasting, dinner, and tea took us a little over three hours. I loved that no one rushed us and we were able to goof around and enjoy long conversations. It was the perfect date-night homies.
After dinner, we wandered downstairs where the coat-check, restrooms, and souvenir shop is located.
There was a beautiful array of Matryoshka dolls aka Russian Nesting dolls.

A cultural and culinary salon for an array of artists since opening its doors in 1927, the Russian Tea Room, or RTR, is also a touchstone for New Yorkers and guests from around the globe alike. From its early heyday as a stomping ground for Russian ex-pats and the likes of George Balanchine and Ayn Rand to its place as a dining destination for high society and Hollywood royalty, it remains one of the most recognizable restaurants in the world. It’s been featured in films including Manhattan, Sweet Smell of Success, Tootsie, The Turning Point, Big, Smurfs, and New York Stories, among others. It’s also influenced films: When Harry Met Sally was conceived at one of the restaurant’s posh booths. A favorite with television programs as well, you can see RTR’s signature dining room in episodes of Louie, Gossip Girl, Real Housewives of New York, and Real Housewives of New Jersey. The Russian Tea Room continues to attract celebrities and influencers, including Mariah Carey, Bill and Hilary Clinton, Anderson Cooper, Keira Knightly, Paul McCartney, Chris Noth, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Carlos Slim, to name a few.
